Thoughts On The Red Summer
by Micah Reign
Red Summer, such a tragic event I've ever witnessed-Red Summer.
My eagle eyes are drawn to the waves of people targeting us.
Killing hundreds of my people, swallowing them with hatred.
Thousands were in pain like an injured bird.
Is this how the world I live in ought to be?
To kill, hurt, crush each other for they're as different as night and day?
Why? Oh! Why?
Tyrants crush one's soul for they're as unique as a blue diamond.
My heart shattered into million pieces, as I witness the Red Summer.
Watching the hangings, the shootings, and the murders,
Trying to end one's precious world.
I'm deeply opposed to the injustice that is rampant in our nation...
I used to believe that America was the land of liberty,
I thought it was known for being a peacemaker,
I honestly think that this nation was a role model for the rest of the world...
But why am I noticing segregation in each state?
Is that phrase, "America-the land of freedom" a joke?
Because what I'm seeing here isn't exactly that.
What I'm seeing with my own eyes are crimes, violence, hate, injustice...
I'm starting to believe that this nation is just one of many that still tolerates violent attacks.
